Juan Sabines Guerrero se convirtió en el gobernador del estado mexicano de Chiapas en el año 2006 al ganar las elecciones locales en México. Más tarde se unió a la coalición de partidos llamada la Coalición por el Bien de Todos que puso en peligro tres partes a saber, Partido del Trabajo, Convergencia y el Partido de la Revolución Democrática, y en virtud de esta coalición que compitió para el cargo de la gobernación en 2006. Juan siempre trataba de ayudar a las personas para que puedan tener una vida mejor. Él es incluso ayudar a las personas que son migrantes y llegar a México en busca de buena vida, que incluso presentó un proyecto de ley sobre la seguridad y el derecho de los migrantes.

This along with the recent introduction of Globally Harmonized System will ensure that your facility is safe and chemicals are handled effectively. What is HazCom?

The Hazard Communication Standard is a rule introduced by OSHA to avert the risks that the harmful chemicals pose, by ensuring the right kind of exposure to the employees. The employers have to create a HazCom program for the safety of their staff. This program includes, hazard identification, labeling system, updated material safety data sheets and training for the workers.

What is GHS?

While the HazCom systems work well, there is a need to have a centralized or common system of labelling and marking that would help understand the content of the chemical. Therefore, in 2003 the United Nations introduced the concept of globally harmonized systems (GHS). This system initiates a standard code for identifying and classifying hazardous chemicals through uniform labels and MSDS.

How will GHS affect the existing HazCom system?

GHS would change two major areas of working with chemicals in your facility.

Labels: Previously in the HazCom system, labeling system would differ as per each facility. The employees were trained to read a certain type of labels which are used exclusively in their work place. With the introduction of GHS, the labels will be in a consistent format and of a standard set. Workers from various different industries world over will have to follow the same format of labeling.

MSDS: Currently OSHA has specified 12 specific sections for any hazard communication MSDS. If they are complete, the MSDS is considered valid. Under GHS the first change will be to rename these sheets to SDS or Safety Data Sheets. Additionally, unlike the previous 12, you will now need to complete 16 sections in a specific format.

With the change in labeling and MSDS systems, you training program will have to be updated too. GHS will make trading internationally easier; therefore you can expect these changes in your facility soon.
